History

Wachusett Regional High School opened its doors in the fall of 1954 as the first regional high school in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In its relatively short history, Wachusett has become one of the best comprehensive high schools in the Commonwealth.

Wachusett is proud of its ability to offer a number of outstanding programs that meet the needs of our diverse student body. Our traditional college preparatory program is second to none. More than seventy percent of our students follow this path and are well prepared by the programs that Wachusett offers.

Wachusett also prepares students for technical and vocational studies through the Wachusett Partnership Program. This program offers students career majors in health science, criminal justice, business administration, early childhood education, engineering technology, automotive technology, fashion merchandizing and graphic communications.

Wachusett is also proud of its programs in the fine and performing arts. Each year we are treated to outstanding music and theater productions in our auditorium and our arts students compete favorably at festivals in both visual and performing arts.

An exemplary academic program is only part of Wachusett’s story. Wachusett is also committed to offering its students an outstanding interscholastic athletic and extracurricular program. through the efforts of the Booster Club, Wachusett continues to provide strong academic programs without sacrificing a student’s extracurricular life.
